Bookkeeper
Overview
Seeking a detail-oriented person with a solid understanding of best practices for accounting. Familiarity with Wave a bonus.
This is for a specific bookkeeping project to start, which could lead into a second project (inventory), if desired, and/or to an ongoing role as bookkeeper.
INITIAL PROJECT ~ BOOKKEEPING RETROACTIVE
The first project is reviewing and organizing the transactions for my business that started May 2023 – present.
The business is a community space / event venue. The project was unexpected so I was not fully prepared with good bookkeeping habits at the beginning. Really want to tighten this up and move forward with confidence!
In January of 2024 I started using Wave, a business credit card, and business bank account. However, there was some mixing of personal before that (May – Dec) that needs to be clarified.
While I do have close records in Airtable spreadsheets, I would like to have a knowledgeable, detail-oriented person review the transactions to make sure nothing was missed, and also make sure the records are categorized accurately.
Moving forward, would feel great to set up best practices and keep very good records from now on!
SECOND PROJECT ~ INVENTORY
The second project is organizing the inventory, which is of course related to the purchase transactions being reviewed in the initial project. I would like to have a clear list of the valuable items I have purchased, as well as those things that guests might be charged for if damaged.
Ex: Furniture, speakers, lights, dishes, bedding, rugs, meditation cushions, etc.
GOALS
- Get a clear and trusted sense of what was spent in every category (supplies, software, contractors, maintenance, legal, etc.)
- Streamline all data so it is easy to see at a glance.
- Get Wave up to date
- Understand best practices to maintain the system
